Last week we featured Mr. Putney’s Quacking Dog by one of my favorite authors, Jon Agee. Over at Shannon’s Book Nook, Shannon has many ideas on how to extend the lesson from the book, including coming up with other animals that could join Mr. Putney’s menagerie, instructions and variations for her Combo Game, an art activity, fun facts, and ideas for working on reading skills with the book. It’s a great post with plenty of suggestions and photos. Click here to take a look!
Overall, Shannon’s Book Nook is a fantastic and well-organized site for choosing appropriate read-alouds for your child (or grandchild, niece, nephew, etc.) and following up with fun activities. Even if Mr. Putney’s Quacking Dog is not appropriate for your child, it’s still worth taking a look at Shannon’s site to find books and activities that would be a good fit.
