One important aspect of Applied Behavior Analysis is understanding motivation. When I am making choices for what and how to teach my students, I am always seeking high interest materials that will grab the student’s attention and make them more available for learning. Each week I’ll share some of my favorite lesson plans and resources that have come my way.
Cartoons for the Classroom – This site provides access to cartoons from different points in history, a weekly lesson plan based on cartoons that is aligned with Common Core standards, as well as other resources for using cartoons as part of teaching History and Social Studies.
National Geographic’s Giant Traveling Maps – Sometimes bigger really is better in terms of student engagement. Instead of carefully studying a map within your textbook, imagine allowing your students to explore a map that’s 26 x 35 feet. You can read more about the experience of using the maps at one school here.
